2022 Adult Summer Reading Program

Welcome to the 2022 Adult Summer Reading Program for Adults. Join us as we relax, read, and attend some fun programs this summer for a chance to win some prizes.

Set a summer reading goal and complete 6 out of 8 tasks for a chance to win a grand prize of a $100 gift certificate, to Crab a Bag on Liberty St.! Come to our programs for a chance at bi-weekly prizes of a $15 Shell gas card. Please hand in your completed bookmarks and return to either the Main Library Information Desk or Town Branch by Friday, August 12th.

Book Talk Cafe – Thursday, July 7, 2022 , 2:00 p.m., come out to the Giving Tree Cafe to hear about the latest  book recommendations  for the summer from some of our librarians, while supporting a local business.

Gyotaku: Japanese Fish Printing – Friday, July 15, 2022 at 11:30 p.m., join us at the Town Branch while we learn and practice the beautiful art of  Japanese fish printing.  Don’t worry, we use fish replicas!  We’ll be repeating this presentation at the Main Library on  Friday, August 5th at 11:30.

Remarkable Bright Creatures Book Discussion– Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.,  at the Town Branch  join us for an afternoon book discussion of  Shelby Van Pelt’s, Remarkable Bright Creatures. The book is a beautiful examination of how loneliness can be transformed, cracked open, with the slightest touch from another living thing. – Kevin Wilson, author of Nothing to See Here.

Riverman Author Talk –  Thursday, July 21, 2022 at 6:30., join author  and New Yorker writer, Ben McGrath as he discusses his book. Riverman is the story of Dick Conant, who canoed thousands of miles of American rivers (including the Hudson) over the course of 20 years, only to have disappeared near the Outer Banks of North Carolina.  The New York Times compares it to Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer.  Books will be available at the Main and Town Branch. 

Turtle Felting Handicraft Thursday, July 28. 2022 at 5:30 p.m., Felting is a fiber art that uses wool, special tools and techniques to create unique objects, both fun and functional. Using a mat and special needle, participants will learn how to shape wool…creating a life-size baby sea turtle! Hands-on instruction, samples, step-by-step diagrams are all provided.

Trivia and MocktailsThursday, August 11, 2022 at 6:30., Join us for some trivia and mocktails as our Summer Reading programs comes to a close.
