The following services are offered at the Newburgh Free Library:

RCLS Go Mobile App

The Ramapo Catskill Library System GO mobile app lets you search the Library Catalog wherever you are. If you are a library card holder, you can locate books, movies, music and more with easy search features designed for mobile devices. You can also place holds and view your library card account. Download the RCLS Go app on App Store or Google Play store.

Download e-books, e-audiobooks and more using Overdrive and hoopla digital streaming services! 


Computer Use and Classes

Computers at the Main Library and Laptops at the Town Branch are available for public use by children, teens and adults to access the Internet or use Microsoft Office products. You may download files to a removable storage device like a flash drive. Bring your own ear buds, or purchase a set at the Customer Service Desk.

Using a valid RCLS or Newburgh library card, adults, teens and children may use the computers for two sessions per day. Guest passes are available to all visitors at the Main Library. Computer use is on a first-come, first-served basis; no advance reservations are accepted. Adults with a RCLS or Newburgh library card may borrow a laptop for in-library-use only for 2 consecutive hours per day at the Main Library.

Printer, Copier and Fax Use

Printing is available from library computers, library laptops and personal laptops.  Prints are 10 cents per page for black and white and 50 cents per page for color. You may use mobile or wireless printing both at the Library and from home, as long as you have an Internet connection. Print from your desktop or laptop computer, or from your device or smart phone. Public Copiers may be found on the main and second levels of the Main Library. Copies are 10 cents per page.

Fax Services are available for one dollar per page. All faxes must be completed 30 minutes prior to closing. Please note that we only send faxes; we do not accept incoming faxes.

Please note all printing and copying jobs must be finished 15 minutes prior to closing. Fax services end half an hour before the library closes.


Local History Room

You are welcome to visit the Newburgh Free Library’s Local History Room at our 124 Grand Street location when Local History staff is available. Call ahead to make an appointment to use the resources in the  Local History Room at 845-563-3617 or email hhgeo@rcls.org. For more information, visit our Local History & Genealogy page.


Curbside and doorside pick-up of library materials is available. Request your items via our catalog, the RCLS Gateway App, or by calling 845-563-3600 at the Main Library. Please bring your library card and be prepared to read off the number. We check out your items, then walk them out to you!

Pick Books for Me: Librarians Choose, You Check Out!: Looking for some reading, watching or listening recommendations? Our librarians can help! Just fill out the online forms for our readers advisory service for Adults, ages 18+ or for Children & Teens, and we’ll pick out up to five items that can be checked out at either the Main Library.

Microfilm Readers allow you to research back copies of newspaper articles and are available for use by the public on the 2nd floor. Ask a staff member for assistance.

Tax Forms are available in limited quantities during tax season. Reproducible forms may be copied or printed at 15 cents per page. Tax forms and instructions are also available online at www.irs.gov and at www.tax.state.ny.us

Notary Services: We offer FREE notary public services for the benefit of the community at the Main Library. This service is available when our NYS commissioned staff members are available in the building. Call ahead at 845-563-3605 to confirm availability and/or make an appointment. English/Spanish service available.

The following guidelines will be followed in the provision of Notary Service:

  • Valid photo identification with signature is required of any customer seeking Notary Service.
  • Notaries will not provide service if the customer, document or circumstances of the request for Notary Service raise any issue of authenticity, ambiguity, doubt or uncertainty for the Notary. In this event, the Notary may, at their sole discretion, decline to provide Notary Service.
  • Hours: Monday – Friday:  9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Adelphi Social Work Intern

An intern from the Adelphi University School of Social Work is at the library on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9am-1pm to provide social work services. You can get connected with food assistance, healthcare, transitional housing and more!
